DEEP TALK
Life of HARTMANNMUELLER
2023 Performance
Premiere 03.11.2023 / Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, Mülheim
The new work by Düsseldorf performance duo HARTMANNMUELLER brings the really big themes to the stage: love, parenthood and death, faith, violence and forgiveness. In their new performance “DEEP TALK – The Life of HARTMANNMUELLER”, Simon Hartmann and Daniel Ernesto Mueller invite their audience to take a new look at their own life stories, based on autobiographical stories and their own stories of origin.
HARTMANNMUELLER combine intense and challenging, sad and funny autobiographical experiences with everyday objects in which memories are reflected. By emphasizing personal life stories, a platform is created to illuminate universal human issues and encourage viewers to reflect on their own experiences. The work transcends the individual and offers an emotional resonance space: where do different lives intersect, which experiences are even universal? One thing is certain: the past never disappears completely. What we have experienced is a part of us, inscribed in our bodies – it remains tangible in words, rituals and objects. In the course of life, the boundaries between past and present become blurred. Our own experiences make their way into the present and influence our actions today. Which imprints remain, which do we pass on – for example, when we become parents ourselves?
“DEEP TALK – The Life of HARTMANNMUELLER” offers a profound and complex portrayal of human experience, combining autobiographical narratives, shared emotional worlds, sensual experience and physical presence in a multi-faceted production.
A production by HARTMANNMUELLER, in co-production with the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, Mülheim. Funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Kunststiftung NRW. Supported by PACT Zollverein, Essen.
