it is what it is
2015 / Performance
Premiere 17.12.2015 / tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf
In the new production by HARTMANNMUELLER two performers execute different actions on stage. A voiceover precisely describes what is happening on stage, it directs the audience to details and comments on the supposed emotional state of the actors. “It is what is is” establishes a kind of moving picture and a game of shifting perspectives and possible interpretations. Do the two performers stand for different people or for two ways of looking at one person? Does the narration direct the rhythm and the nature of the actions or do the performers have freedom for design?
A production by HARTMANNMUELLER in cooperation with tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf, sponsored by the cultural office of the state capital Düsseldorf and the department of family, children, youth, culture and sport of the state of NRW.
