Rages!

2025 Interactive Installation
Premiere 15.11.2025 / Theatermuseum Düsseldorf

With Rages!, HARTMANNMULLER create a safe space for adults and families to explore their emotions: a place where anger is not suppressed, but welcomed. The installation invites visitors to engage with their own anger physically, emotionally and sensually – free from shame, control or the need to function.

At the centre stands a large, specially designed structure that offers the opportunity to experience anger in a variety of ways: swinging, hitting, shouting – or simply feeling it. What does my anger sound like? How does it feel when I finally give it space? And how does it change when I give it expression?

The energy generated in the process – movement, voice, emotion – flows into the installation. Light, sound and atmosphere are fuelled by this energy, transforming the space into a living echo of the collective experience. Everything the visitors express becomes visible, audible and tangible – the space responds.

Wütet! creates an environment in which powerful emotions are allowed – not as destructive energy, but as a creative resource. The space becomes a sanctuary and a resonating chamber, a playground and a arena for confrontation, a space for expression and reflection all at once. Here, anger is allowed to exist without being judged – as a living, serious part of being human that connects, liberates and moves us.

A production by HARTMANNMUELLER in co-production with the Theatermuseum Düsseldorf. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Performing Arts Fund (funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media), and the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf.
