NO FUN

2021 / Performance
Premiere 29.01.2021 / Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, Mülheim

“If there were no fools in the world, what would the world be?” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe asked himself this question a long time ago. Yes, what would this, our world be without these fictional characters? Would it be indescribably beautiful and good and peaceful? Would it be boring? Or would it just be chaos? At the moment it seems as if the fools have long since taken over, as if  they’re romping around in our unstable world, always looking for arguments, violence and attention. Look at how small our planet is. How incredibly tiny it appears in our galaxy, not to mention the universe. How important is this question then? HARTMANNMUELLER start a self-experiment. They create a world inhabited by bizarre creatures. And you as an observer, as a perceiving person, are important for this attempt. Accompany us through the personal and emotional worlds of NO FUN as we dance the very last dance together. NO FUN – a dilemma with a good outcome.

NO FUN – the movie

In their debut film, NO FUN, HARTMANNMUELLER try it out. Three bizarre characters, clowns, whose story we don’t know, set out on a search for non-violent communication and space directly in limbo. They explore the supposedly big questions of this world and get caught up in a heated argument, while at the same time clinging to the conventions of an overlaid table. They seek their salvation in excess and in unrestrained dance and are thrown back into their own insignificance and loneliness. NO FUN casts a satirical-ironic look at an unstable, damaged world while maintaining the balance between the curiosity and the sadness about one’s own inability.
