HARTMANNMUELLER take an intimate look at human existence in their new piece. They define a space with precise actions, construct a situation, connect the body to a sculpture and proceed to examine the arrangement for its theatrical impact. They play with the perception of time in elaborate pictures, straining the moment to its maximum. Visitors experience unforeseen metamorphoses of the bodies, induced by HARTMANNMUELLER. In this, they ask how a term for the body comes about, for the limits of manipulation and how such radical intervention has an effect which defines humanity. Monstrous and disfigured moments encrust the human sculpture emerging from the artist duo’s laboratory. The soundtrack for the analysis of the human body and its malleability comes from sound and image artist, Orson Hentschel, who has also contributed in preceding productions.
A production by HARTMANNMUELLER, coproduced by tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf.
